Statewide Blended Advanced Standing Program

Advanced Standing with flexible online coursework.

The Statewide Blended Advanced Standing Program combines independently completed online coursework with live monthly Saturday sessions. Eligible BSW graduates may complete the program full time in one year or part time in two years.

Orientation

New Student Orientation

All students attend orientation in May on MSU’s East Lansing campus.

Coursework

Online summer start

Required classes begin online during the summer. Remaining coursework is completed independently online.

Live connection

Monthly Saturday sessions

Students join class through Zoom one Saturday per month during the fall and spring. Part-time students begin these sessions in the second year.

Applicants outside Michigan: To be eligible, you must live within 50 miles of the Michigan border and submit verification before the final admission decision is processed.

Field education

Connect online learning with professional practice.

Students complete 500 total hours of field education. Placements require 16 hours each week during normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Clinical Practice

All courses required for the Clinical Practice specialization are offered in the Statewide Blended online format.

SW 865 and SW 866 are completed with the Weekend program in a blended format that includes four face-to-face classes each semester at the Henry Center in Lansing.
