Program snapshot
This summer-start pathway combines primarily face-to-face coursework with flexible full- and part-time options for eligible BSW graduates. Most classes meet during the day, with some evening options available.

The student experience
Orientation
All students attend orientation in May on MSU’s East Lansing campus.
Coursework
Required courses begin during the summer and may include face-to-face and/or online classes.
Campus format
Most classes take place face to face in East Lansing during the day, with some evening options.
Field education
Students complete 500 total hours of field education. Placements require 16 hours each week during normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Part-time students: Field education takes place during the second year of the program.
Areas of specialization
Students complete the program full time in one year or part time in two years and select one of two areas of specialization.
