Statewide Blended Regular Program

Students attend class one Saturday per month during the Fall and Spring semesters via Zoom videoconferencing software. Remaining coursework is done independently online.

All students attend New Student Orientation in August on the East Lansing campus.

First required classes start in the Fall with classes occurring year-round.

Students complete a minimum of 57-credits and four semesters of field in the second and third years for a total of 960 field hours.

Students are in field for 16 hours a week scheduled during normal business hours (8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday) during their second and third years. Field education is conducted during the fall and spring semesters. Students who have long-term employment in a qualified social work organization may be eligible to complete the first two semesters of the field education requirement within their employing institution. Visit our Field Education home page for more information.

Only a part-time (3-year) option is available.

Students choose either a Clinical Practice or an Organizational Community Leadership (OCL) area of specialization. All courses required for the Clinical Practice concentration are offered in the Statewide Blended online format. Students in the Organization and Community Leadership (OCL) specialization take OCL advanced practice courses (SW 865 and SW 866) in a blended format with the Weekend program including 4 face-to-face classes each semester at the Henry center in Lansing, MI.
