Program snapshot
The Statewide Blended Regular Program combines primarily asynchronous online coursework with predetermined monthly Saturday Zoom sessions. Students may complete the program full time in two years or part time in three years.
The student experience
Orientation
All students attend orientation in August on MSU’s East Lansing campus.
Coursework
Required classes begin in the fall, with coursework continuing throughout the year.
Blended format
Most coursework is completed asynchronously online, supported by predetermined synchronous Zoom sessions on Saturdays each month.
Applicants outside Michigan: To be eligible, you must live within 50 miles of the Michigan border and submit verification before the final admission decision is processed.
Field education
Students complete 960 total field hours during the fall and spring semesters. Placements require 16 hours each week during normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Employment-based possibility: Students with long-term employment in a qualified social work organization may be eligible to complete the first two semesters of field education within their employing institution.
