MSU Social Work and Public Health Career Fair

About the event

Thank you for your interest in the MSU Social Work & Public Health Career Fair 2026! This fair is now being hosted virtually through Handshake.

Getting 10 uninterrupted minutes with agency personnel is more than you would typically get at an in-person career fair, so this is an advantage. Attend this event to learn about internships, part-time jobs, full-time jobs, and volunteer opportunities related to the fields of Social Work and Public Health.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Registration and Sign-Ups for the Agency Recruiting Sessions and One-On-One Sessions will not begin until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24th. This will allow enough time for agencies to get registered and to open those sessions for you, before you can access them. Be sure you put the date/time into your calendar so that you are available. You should begin researching all the attending agencies so that you know who you plan to try and set up sessions with once registration and sign-up begins on February 24th.

BE PREPARED TO SUCCEED: Be sure to thoroughly review the list of employers who will be participating and remember that we add new employers weekly. In preparation for the virtual career fair, spend time researching the employers you are interested in talking to so that you can come up with some questions and set a plan for who you wish to talk to that evening. Again, you won't be able to start signing up for Agency Sessions until 10:00AM on Tuesday, February 24th. Some agencies will be hosting 30-Minute Informational/Recruiting Sessions that you can sign up for, while most will be holding 10-Minute, one-on-one sessions with interested students. Instructions for signing up for these sessions will be provided to you once you get Registered to Participate.

BE PREPARED - PART II: Even though you will not be meeting with Agency Representatives in person, it is still important to look the part. If you have a business suit, be sure to wear that as you will be having zoom-like meetings with Agency Representatives during the 10-Minute Sessions. If you don't have a suit, that's OK; just be sure you wear a nice button-down shirt, top, or sweater. Please do not wear hats of any kind, and be sure that your hair is styled conservatively as well. You still need to "look the part".

  • Be sure that you research (on Handshake or on agency websites) each Agency that you either plan to attend an Informational Session or one-on-one session with. You'll want to have some questions prepared to ask the people you meet with, so knowing some general information about the agencies going in will be helpful to you.

  • Be sure that your Handshake Profile is built out, made public, and free of errors. That way if an Agency Representative wants to hop onto your Profile before meeting with you to learn a bit about you, they will see a complete and well-done profile. To make your profile Open to the Agencies, you do that under the Settings Tab on your Profile Site.

  • Make sure you have March 25, 2026, from 5:30pm - 7:30pm set aside in your schedule. Also be sure that you will have a quiet place (with strong WiFi) lined up where you won't be interrupted by roommates, family, pets, etc. It is important that you do not have any distractions or interruptions during your sessions with employers.
  • Have questions? Review these Handshake Help articles about Signing Up for & Managing Virtual Fair Sessions and Joining a Virtual Fair Session.
