My research focuses on the intersection of domestic violence and poverty with an emphasis on policy responses, survivors’ service usage and gaps in services. Additionally, she explores how stigma against survivors in poverty can be activated at every level of the socio-ecological system. While there is an emphasis on poverty, poverty is fundamentally understood to be intricately bound with other types of oppression (e.g., homophobia, racism, ethnocentrism). This activist research agenda seeks to create policies and services that holistically address the root causes of violence and poverty.
