Continuing Education Director Gina Tremonti Gembel Receives CIEG Grant

MSU School of Social Work Continuing Education Director Gina Tremonti Gembel received a Creating Inclusive Excellence Grants (CIEG) at Michigan State University grant from the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives. The grant project will focus on creating inclusive field education experiences for social work students.

This project will oversee the development and implementation of DEI Action Labs (Action Labs) with the School of Social Work Field Education program.  Creating field education experiences for social work students that are inclusive and in alignment with the DEI values of the University is the anticipated impact of this project.

The Action Lab sessions will be designed to 1) provide a foundational framework around diversity, equity, and inclusion, including anti-racist practices, using the University’s definitions and values and 2) guide work groups through a process to act intentionally and strategically to create field education experiences for students that are inclusive. This is a collaborative project across the School of Social Work that will bring together Field Education, Continuing Education, and the Racial and Social Justice Collaborative.
