National Institutes of Health (NIH) Proposal Resources

The US Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health support a wide variety of research-related programs. The National Institutes of Health funding opportunities are divided into three categories:

  • Program Announcements (PAs)
  • Requests for Applications (RFAs)
  • Requests for Proposals (RFPs)

Saving NIH Funding Searches

You can now save your searches when looking for Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) and/or Guide Notices. And you can have save an unlimited number of searches!

START: Go to the main NIH grants page

  • In the center of the page you will see a blue Funding box...
    • Within that box there is a link called Advanced Search
    • Set up a search as you normally would:
      • Define your parameters using key words, status, issuing organization, etc.
      • Click the Search button at the bottom of the window. 

When you get your results

  • You will see an option to save the search.  It looks like this:

  • Click Save this Search; then you will be prompted to
    • Provide an email address and a name for the search
    • Select the frequency of your notifications (daily, weekly, or monthly)
  • Enter this information along with a security code (provided on the screen) and you will be alerted when notices and/or FOAs are posted that meet your criteria. After clicking the “Save this Search” button, you will also receive a confirmation email with a hyperlink for your named search and an unsubscribe button (one click and done).
