Clinical Social Work with Families
The Clinical Social Work with Families Certificate Program develops clinical skills in relational therapy with individuals, couples, and families in their social environments. These skills include thinking systemically, joining with individual and conjoint client systems, restructuring relationship dynamics and patterns, and resolving a broad range of presenting problems. This certificate satisfies partial educational requirements for the Limited License in Marriage and Family Therapy (LLMFT) in the state of Michigan. This program is only open to Clinical students.
One letter of recommendation is required from a field instructor, liaison, or professor if you are in the Regular program, or from a professor, supervisor, or other professional if you are in the Advanced Standing program, who can speak to your potential to focus on this area of clinical practice. Instruct your recommender to email the letter to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to the field application deadline.
The Clinical Social Work with Families Certificate requires satisfactory completion of the following:
- SW 871 (3 cr, spring) Advanced Clinical Social Work with Families
- Specialized field placement working with families in the advanced year
