Post Adoption Support Services
Developed by MSU School of Social Work
Research and the knowledge construction process are at the core of a great University and a great School of Social Work. Paired with this research mission is our Land Grant mission—that our research can be applied to and responsive to the challenges facing Michigan citizens and communities and even beyond Michigan. At MSU School of Social Work, our research is intended to make a difference in the lives of people and communities in Michigan, throughout the US, and beyond.
This is an original curriculum developed and tailored specifically to the needs of couples who are raising children from the foster care system. Its purpose is to help couples strengthen their relationships with one another as a means of strengthening their families and providing their children with the safety, security, and love that they so deserve. The curriculum development process was dynamic and integrated findings from the research and training experiences during a five-year federal grant awarded to MSU School of Social Work from the US Department of Health and Human Services.
For professionals, the Building a Home with Heart curriculum is available here free of charge. The project that developed this curriculum was funded in part by a financial assistance award from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Grant #90c01026/01, Strengthening Marriages and the Well Being of Children: Post Adoption Marriage Education.
