MSU School of Social Work holds several approvals as a continuing education provider (see below).

Ruth T. Koehler Endowed Lecture Series

The School has established the Ruth T. Koehler Endowed Lecture Series for students and practitioners wishing to learn more about treatment of children. The Koehler Conference series on clinical work with children and regular workshops has become an important part of the School and community.

The following is an abbreviated list of presentations offered over the past four years by the Koehler Endowed Chair. In many cases handouts are available. Additionally, outside speakers are invited to present both spring and fall on topics of related to child presenting problems and treatment. These presentations will always be located in the School's Continuing Education catalogue available on the website.

Provider approvals

Michigan State University School of Social Work is approved as a provider of social work continuing education by a national credentialing body, the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). We are an Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Provider(#1136). To contact ASWB ACE, write to 400 South Ridge Parkway, Suite B, Culpeper VA 22701 or visit www.aswb.org (MSU approval period: June 2010–June 2013). ASWB ACE approval is recognized by the State of Michigan Board of Social Work Examiners as acceptable for social worker in Michigan. Contact your state's regulatory board to determine course approval.

Michigan State University School of Social Work is also a Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative Approved Provider, MICEC #0001 March 24, 2010–March 23, 2011, for all face-to-face and live stream programs.

The Michigan State University School of Social Work is also an Association for Play Therapy Continuing Education Provider. This means that courses and continuing education workshops and presentations that meet APT requirements, qualify for both social work course credit and APT hours toward registered play therapy registration and renewal, or social work continuing education hours and APT hours toward registered play therapy registration and renewal.
