Assessment Tools

Professionals working with children and adolescents need to use intake forms and assessment tools that match the developmental and environmental contexts of the child client. Some examples are provided here for guidance and brainstorming. Materials are readily available online along with instructions for use, most notably for Ecomaps and Genograms. Children, adolescents, and their families generally engage in the process of creating these useful tools so they become basic ways of engagement and assessment.

It is also an ethical responsibility to provide full disclosure statements to clients. I have included here a PowerPoint presentation on ethics and full disclosure based on Corey, Corey, and Callanan (2006) and Reamer (2006).
