Human Trafficking Interactive Workshop

Description of Event:

This workshop offers an opportunity for interprofessional partners to engage in content related to human trafficking. In this workshop learners will obtain an overview of human trafficking, resources for practice, and engage in an interactive case based approach using standardized patients to identify potential victims of human trafficking and apply interventions as appropriate. Debriefing sessions will allow the learner to apply interprofessional competencies to clinical situations. Learners will provide lessons learned for application in daily practice.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the workshop, the learner will be able to:

  1. Describe types and venues of trafficking in Michigan and the US
  2. Identify victims of trafficking in healthcare settings
  3. Identify warning signs of trafficking in health care setting for minors and adults
  4. Identify resources for reporting suspected victims of human trafficking
  5. Explore the four core competencies of IPE/C as it relates to the care of potential human trafficking victims in practice
