The Statewide Blended Program offers the MSW degree with a clinical focus in the Regular three-year part-time model and the Advanced Standing two-year part-time model. This program combines the best features of face-to-face, videoconferencing, and online instruction. Compared with traditional on-campus programs, the reduced time spent in the classroom allows for more flexibility in scheduling coursework around employment, family responsibilities, etc. Compared to fully online programs, this program emphasizes the importance of in-person relationships with peers and social work professionals serving as mentors. Graduates of this program have stressed the importance of this blend in reducing feelings of isolation and increasing supports necessary for successful completion of the program.
Applicants for the Regular program must live more than 50 miles from both the East Lansing and Flint campuses. Applicants for the Advanced Standing program must live more than 50 miles from East Lansing, Oakland, and Saginaw campuses and have graduated from a Council on Social Work Education accredited social work baccalaureate program within the last six years. Applicants for both Statewide Blended Program options must live in Michigan or within 50 miles of the state border.
Information Sessions for the Statewide Blended Clinical MSW Program (Regular and Advanced Standing options) will be held next fall. Dates will be posted late summer.
