Post Adoption Support Services

This site is designed as a resource for foster, adoptive, and kinship families in Michigan and the professionals who serve them. Its goal is to provide information and links to web sites and other resources that will be useful to both families and professionals. The site features information that is relevant to the filed of adoption in Michigan including upcoming training events.

For professionals, a marriage curriculum for adoptive, kinship, and foster parents–called Building a Home with Heart–is available for download free of charge. The project that developed this research- and experience-based curriculum was funded in part by a financial assistance award from the US Department of Health and Human Services.

National Child Welfare Workforce Institute

The purpose of this project is to build the capacity of the nation's child welfare workforce and improve outcomes for children, youth, and families. MSU School of Social Work is responsible for coordinating and overseeing BASW and MSW traineeship programs that have been implemented in partnership with 12 universities.

Evidence Based Trauma Treatment Project

This project invests in supporting community agencies as they develop trauma treatment capacity. Agency based clinicians are trained in a specific evidence based trauma treatment and receive ongoing consultation around implementation of the evidence based treatment. These clinicians serve as field instructors for students who participate in the project.
